Dave was married to a cousin of mine (Karen Koops class of 71). Karens mother, my aunt, passed away recently. At the memorial service I met Dave's children and son and daughter who I haven't seem since they were young childred. The grandaughter spoke at the service with emphasis on spiritually. The son, Mitch, in his late 30s also seemed like a good family. Dave was a kind man to all I have spoken to recently and none had an issue with him. He was friendly to all and pretty much hung out and stayed in Bellflower all these years.
This is actually Rick Stratton class of 1973. Dave was definitely a class act one of a kind. We met playing Buc Football. I was a sophomore and Dave was a junior. David played tight end and I was the tackle. We were playing Lynwood and there Defenseive end had a disabled arm. Dave kept giveing the audible that I had to block him where ever he lined up. David wanted nothing to do with blocking him. The next year on varsity 1971 was outstanding with being ranked number one in CIF for 7 weeks. It would not be a great bus ride without David doing the Cobb dance etc... I later had the pleasure to work with David at Mayfair HS where I was teaching and coaching and David was security. Go Bucs David you are truly missed. RIP.

Everyone liked Dave! He just had one of those personalities that made everyone gravitate to him.
Another one gone too soon...
